Face #12 is of Rod Moody who passed away June, 11, 2015 at the ripe old age of 91. He was a British actor best know for his role as Fagin in Oliver!

I used a reference picture from Oliver! to do this face because I loved the shadows and how his eyes were.

29faces face #10 Daniel von Bargen

Face 10 is  actor Daniel von Bargen who passed away on March, 1, 2015 at the age of 46.

There are so many TV shows and Movies that I recognize him from it's not even funny. I was so sad to learn of his passing and even sadder to read his health problems, apparent suicide attempt and eventual death (they say it was from complications from diabetes). He was a hansom man and a wonderful actor.

29faces face #9 Omar Sharif

Face #9 is Omar Sharif, who passed away July, 10th, 2015, from a heart attack at the age of 83.
I've linked his Wikipedia page above, he was a very interesting man - He spoke six languages and was a contract bridge player, among other things. His Wikipedia page comes across as very romantic because he died 6 months after this ex-wife, who it seems he never got over - he remained a lonely bachelor after their divorce.

I promise his forehead isn't as big at this picture it showing... my camera didn't want to cooperate today so the angle is off a bit.

Well folks, we are 9 faces down and have 20 more to go, how are all y'all doing?

29 faces face #8 Roger Rees

Face #8 is Roger Rees, who passed away from brain cancer, July, 10th, 2015.
He was a well known British actor that started his acting career in the theater before moving onto television and movies.

He stood out in two rolls for me- as Robin Colcord in Cheers and as Sheriff of Rottingham in Robin hood; men in tights.

29 faces face #7 Maureen O'Hara

Face #7 is of Maureen O'Hara, who passed away the 24th of October 2015 in her sleep at the age of 95.

I knew her from Miracle on 34th street  but she was in many, many other things as well.

We're only a week into the challenge and I've already fallen behind twice! Eekk, I've got to get it together over here if I want to finish all 29 in time.

29 faces face #6 Alex Rocco

Face #6 is  Alex Rocco, who passed away July, 18, 2015 from pancreatic cancer.

I knew him from his performance in 'The Godfather' but when I did my research I found out he liked to appear on TV  more than movies and that he was actually a gang member in Boston  when he was younger. His birth name is Alessandro Federico Petricone, Jr.  but after the Boston Irish Gang War started in the 60's he left Boston and changed his name.

Pretty interesting fellow...

29faces Face #5 Wayne Rogers

Face #5 is of Wayne Rogers, who passes away December, 31, 2015 from pneumonia at the age of 82.

He was probably best know for his role as Captain 'Trapper' John McIntyre in the TV show M*A*S*H. But if you check out his IMBD you'll see he acted in a lot of other things, mostly TV.

I saved his hair for last, and as usual I got frustrated and gave up. Why is hair always so difficult? Even in real life it wants to do it's own thing.

Please Ignore the giant black spot in her hair... I don't know what I was thinking.

29faces Face #2 Taylor Negron

Face #2 in the 29 faces challenge is Taylor Negron, who passed away Janurary, 10, 2015. exactly one year before David Bowie  (They both died from liver cancer, kinda creepy).
I only found out he passed away because of my research, and it surprised me, he was such a familiar face. He was an actor, a comedian, a painter, and a playwright.
I knew  him from his T.V. appearances and smaller parts in movies, he always left an impression.

How could you not remember that smile?

29faces Face #1 David Bowie

I first knew him as the goblin king, I was raised watching Labyrinth. The oldest of three children, each of us loving and watching  Labyrinth  multiple time a week, I have it imprinted into my brain and can recite most of the movie. My husband knows I quietly mouth the words if we watch it, but I can't just mouth the words when the songs come one. I am compelled to sing.

As I grew older I recognized his songs on the radio and the references to him in other movies (Like the Wedding singer). Most of my friends didn't know him till I sang them 'Under pressure' or somehow got them to watch Labyrinth. When I was in my early twenties I watched him in  'The man who fell to earth' simply because he starred in it.

I was not old enough to know who Ziggy Stardust was, or how much David Bowie had changed music or his fashion over the years. I just knew he was cool and I liked him.

When  he passed away, the child in me was heartbroken, we had lost the goblin king...

I did not draw a picture of Jareth the goblin king though, I drew a picture of David Bowie

It's not as close of a likeness as I would like but for not drawing in almost a year I'm happy with how he turned out.  And yes his eyes are that way on purpose, did you know that David Bowie had Anisocoria - a condition where the pupils are different sizes?

1 face down, 28 to go.

29 Faces Challenge

Hello and welcome to the 2016 29 faces Challenge!

I can't believe a whole year has gone by sense I did the last challenge.
I was highly distracted in 2015's Challenge, but I finished it, just barely, and then I didn't participate in September 2015 because I was getting married!
If you would like to see wedding  photo's I have them on my food blog AStrayKitchen.com (it's where I spend my time between challenges).

I'm super excited to get back at making faces and this year I decided to try for a theme. It's somewhat of a sad theme, but  I will be creating faces of actors and musicians that passed away within the last 2 years (like David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Christopher Lee to name the popular ones).  When Bowie and Rickman pass away last month I knew I wanted to  draw them during the challenge, and then through some random thoughts and  conversations I decided it was best to draw only those no longer living, as sort of a remembrance to them.

It was sad compiling this list. A lot of wonderful people  passed away. Most of them I fondly remember and didn't realize they had passed away.  Most of them are also actors, because it was easier to  research them, and frankly, I was too depressed to look into all the musicians that had passed away after 2 hours of actor's who had died.

This next month will be full of beautiful faces, in a tribute to their memories, please  check back for new faces (daily!).

If you would like to learn more about the challenge please check out the website at 29faces
